What’s Happening at Everyday Athlete Gym - November 22
Welcome to our first round-up of what to expect this month at EDA!
Here we will share updates to your monthly programming, upcoming events that you should be looking forward to, and more. We hope you find it useful, and we can't wait to see you smash another incredible month of training.
Training at EDA in November
The nights are getting a bit darker here in Glasgow, and it's definitely starting to get a little bit colder. No need to panic though as you won't need to turn on the heating after these training sessions... heads up, it's going to get spicy here!
GPP
We want to start this section by the praises of our incredible GPP-ers (if you don't know what GPP is you can find out all about our in-person classes here) over the last eight weeks you guys have shown some awesome technique improvements as you worked on your Olympic lifting.
We have retests scheduled for the first week in November and we can’t wait to see that hard work pay off.
We are switching up our programming for the rest of November and December, where you will see us switch the focus to bench, back squat, and deadlift.
Expect some heavy efforts and tempo work and also a retest of our 1rm lifts at the end of the block. Sprint-style workouts and a sprinkle of bodybuilding for the winter gains will pop up a couple of times too, what more could you possibly want?
EDA X
For our EDA X crew, we are moving into phase two of our current strength cycle. It will feel similar to the first phase but the focus will be on lifting heavier percentages. So fuel up, carbs and caffeine are your friends!
Toes to bar are going to be our gymnastic focus as we move through the month so get your grips packed and ready for a test and re-test 4 weeks later.
EDA Flex
EDA Flexers in November, we will continue with our classic FLEX structure.
Functional Strength & Full-Body Bodybuilding (Upper / Lower / Accessory) will be the plan for the month. We will squat heavy, AT LEAST once per week while the other three days will be a mix of upper and lower functional movements.
The split will look a little like this,
Mon - Arms / Abs
Tue - Glutes / Shoulders
Fri - Arms / Abs
Sat - Glutes / Shoulders

Events
In events news, we are absolutely thrilled to be hosting the HYROX P'F"T event on Saturday the 26th of November. This event is a shortened version of the full HYROX race that will be coming to Glasgow in February.
This event is run all around the world with people competing in all categories for various prizes.
The HYROX team will run the event from 11 am on Saturday in place of the classes. It’s free to EDA members (details in your Inbox) and you can sign up via this link.
Christmas Party News
The gym's annual Christmas Party will be going ahead on Saturday the 17th of December. We will be meeting at the awesome new spot in the city centre for Mexican food and plenty of banter from 6:30 pm onwards.
We've also got some arrangements made for the late-night party crew and we can't wait to see you all flexing in your winter finery!
Sounds like a pretty incredible month if you ask us! As always we can't wait to see you on the floor, by the bar (coffee or barbell, we don't mind which but we always prefer both!)
