Christmas at Everyday Athlete Gym Glasgow

Christmas at EDA Gym Glasgow is a truly magical time. The season officially begins when our coaching team gets their hand on the first Pret mince pie of the season (it's the best one trust us!), then is marked by a series of social events and some very special themed workouts.

If you've been a member for a while, these workouts will be as familiar as your favourite Christmas jumper. For those who will be spending their first Christmas with us, welcome! It is about to get quite sweaty.

Today we want to go over what the festive season will look like at Everyday Athlete. From our festive opening hours to a breakdown of what your training will look like, our little social gathering, and a few festive tips to ensure you maintain your progress from this year's hard work.

We hope you find them useful!

It's your last opportunity to train before Christmas, so of course, we go hard. If you can't make it into the gym, we are in the spirit of sharing so here's the full workout (our virtual membership gives you access to incredible workouts like the below 365 days a year, and you can find out more here)

Christmas Social

It's finally here, so put on your sparkliest frock and your best shirt! We are celebrating the festive season EDA style! That means plenty of snacks and a tonne of margaritas, very traditional Scottish fair.

Details will be in your inbox and our Everyday Athlete member's Facebook group or drop us a message if you've missed it!

Festive Fitness Tips

Firstly, this season starts with taking a break.

It's about spending time with your loved ones and seeing out 2022 with a bang! It's been one hell of a year, and you got through it. So it's time to let your hair down and enjoy yourself.

We know you've worked hard on your health goals this year, and you may be apprehensive about party season and the effect it on your progress. But we want to reiterate a Christmas dinner won't set you back. A few drinks at a Christmas party won't cancel out 53 weeks of consistency.

Enjoy this time guilt-free.

You can be sure our Team doesn't feel guilty about some extra pigs in blankets, and neither should you!

If you are looking for a few health tips to incorporate into your festive season, start with the basics:

  1. Get your steps in - a nice walk on Christmas day with the family is a great way to incorporate active recovery into your day and ensure your get in some healthy movement on what could be a fairly sedentary day.

  2. Hydrate - between breakfast prosecco and for some reason more baileys than the rest of the year combined, tis' the season for dehydration. A glass of water between your drinks can help keep hangovers (and the questionable food choices they bring) at bay. But if you do end up with one, hydration will help flush your system and ensure you get to make the most of your time off.

  3. Fuel your workouts - if you are going (Christmas) ham this year, use those extra calories to fuel your strength session. Treat this festive period as a mini-bulk and turn that cheese board into strength gains! We'll be open as normal on the 28th, 29th, and 30th so come in and hit some big lifts!

If you've missed anyone on your Christmas list, and they have been extra nice, then don't worry we've got you. As there's still time to give the Gift of Fitness to someone you love this year. All the details and options here

And finally, from the Team here at EDA, we want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We are incredibly proud of the progress and dedication you've shown this year and we hope next year you continue with your journey.
